New Fitness Center
Raub students have a new Fitness Center where they can work out and work on staying health, and it's all thanks to St. Luke's University Health Network – our lead community partner.
" When Frank Ford, President of the St. Luke's Allentown Campus, saw this room – " dungeon" as he called it – he said " we can do some great things in here," stated Susan Elliott, Principal of Raub. " And so the course was set. If you want something done, Frank is the person to go to – he is a hard man to say no to!"
On December 1, Mr. Ford accompanied by members of St. Luke's Board of Trustees, Raub Middle School and District administrators, Raub students, and local dignitaries gathered to officially " cut the ribbon" on the school's new Fitness Center. The Fitness Center replaces the old wrestling/weight room in the school's basement.
After thanking everyone at the ribbon cutting, Elliott added, " We look forward to developing a program for this Center that will inspire individuals to be more active and health conscious."
Raub Middle School is a United Way Community School with St. Luke's University Health Network as their lead partner. In July, 2016, St. Luke's pledged funds and services up to $30,000 to renovate the room. The costs exceeded this amount, but the St. Luke's Bariatric Team ran in a 5K and raised more than $5,000 additional funds for the project.
